This is the last film Alfred Hitchcock made in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States. The film is set in Cornwall in 1820 where an orphan, Mary, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle who own the Jamaica Inn. Mary discovers the inn is the base for pirates who lure ships to their doom on the rocky coast.
