The story of Scottsboro, Alabama / by W. Jerry Gist.

Gist, W. Jerry. (Author).

Summary:

This is a well-organized book with local interest, as well as wider interest, The Story of Scottsboro, Alabama from its forming back in the Indian times, through the Civil War, and on into an accounting of its local highlights: education, communication, industry, churches, and prominent local figures. It also contains two separate sections covering great court trials: one covers the Triple Hanging Case of August 1, 1884, and the other covers The Scottsboro Case (aka The Scottsboro Boys ) of March 25, 1931. Also contains an appendix listing local officials, including mayors, judges, senators, representatives, etc. This is a very rare book to find, a great reference book for anyone studying the history of this area in Alabama and the history of civil rights litigation.
