My Mama could make the best biscuits. They even won me 1st prize in a 4-H contest in the 6th grade! She made the best white gravy to go with them, and fried chicken on Sundays. And so many things were delicious with that gravy-- even fried bologna and wieners. Mama could make the best deserts too-- a strawberry pudding made like a banana pudding, coconut cream pies, huckleberry (wild blueberry) pies, and fried apple pies. As she grew older, her biscuits became flat and her gravy wasn't quite right either. But I'll always remember her biscuits, and once in a while I'll make them, even now.
