The Scottsboro Boys / James Haskins.

Summary:

Nine black youths were charged with the assault of two white women in Scottsboro, Alabama, in 1931. After escaping being lynched, the nine were brought to trial just two weeks after their arrest; no lawyers were provided until the day of the trial. The verdict: guilty. A storm of protest arose from outside the South. This celebrated case, still debated to this day, involved Clarence Darrow, the American Communist Party, and years of trials and mistrials.
