The Harris Chapel Cemetery Committee was formed in May 1986. It Was formed in order to take back the old Cemetery from the ravishes of time, neglect and weeds. The Committee wanted to place the cemetery under perpetual care. Through individual and committee's efforts, the cemetery is now cleaned of weeds and overgrowth. Several improvements have been made to the cemetery including markers for the sixteen unknown confederate soldiers, a memorial marker and sidewalk to said stone, and a marbel marker for the Harris Chapel Cemetery at the Entrance to the cemetery.
